Choosing Your SUP Board

by paddlepeeps on May 11, 2012

Standup Paddle Boards come in many different shapes and sizes, and shapers are continually refining and innovating designs. Each particular style of SUP board is generally designed for a specific type of paddler and for a specific type of use.

For example, long distance racing SUPs are longer and more needle-like in shape to give them speed. Then there are SUPs that are designed for progressive surfing… these boards are lighter, shorter, and “looser” (easier to turn and maneuver). And let’s not forget everyone’s favorite: the every day CRUISER Standup Paddle Board. This is the all-around board that’s at home doing a lazy flat water cruise, as well as hanging-five on a playful day of surfing.

No matter what your interest is, we encourage paddlers of all types to take a Maui Stand Up Paddle lesson with us. It’s your opportunity to learn the basics, or hone your skills, with professional paddlers ready to share their knowledge and experience.
